The story of "A man went looking for America. I can't understand what's gone wrong with it.Įasy Rider is an image of Sixties counterculture at both its best and worst. That bike was built in the 1950s (rigid frame, Panhead engine, 4 spoeed transmission, and forks), the fenders were removed and a flat rear fender installed and one off a British TT bike installed on the front, the seat was removed and replaced with a "cobra" seat (looks something like the head of a cobra when seen from above), the footboards were removed and foot pegs installed at the front footboard mounting point, the front wheel was swapped for a narrower 21" wheel, the tin shroud was removed from the top of the forks and a smaller headlight was installed, the fork tubes were replaced with tubes that were 8" longer than stock, a smaller "Mustang" gas tank was installed, and the handlebars were replaced with "drag bars" on tall risers.
